..well, she has been heavily medicated, but geeesh…

i know that charon’s had alot on her mind lately…and she has been heavily medicated…but geesh…

last night, she sat straight up (let out a little yelp), and realized it was the 19th of august..wow, two days earlier must have been….AUGUST 17TH!!!!  my six month ampuversary!!!  where were the balloons, the ice cream, the cheese, the scary clown..(0k, scratch the clown).

i got so many ‘sorry i’m two day late’ kisses..it was worth it.  six months – sometimes it seems like it’s been forever and sometimes it seems like it’s been just yesterday.  i must say, every moment has been a blessing for all of us, and we hope for many, many, many, many more great celebrations ahead.

and, if that wasn’t enough good news… charon’s surgeon dr. mancini (no, not henry) called today to say the lymph nodes were all clear and the margins were clean!!  after she’s all healed up, a month or so of radiation and she’ll be good as new.

bring on the ice cream and cheese – everybody do the ‘hokie pokie’ we’re gonna party down tonight!!!

gayle, the lucky one

Author: etgayle

gayle developed a small lump in her right front wrist. biopsy determined it was a soft tissue sarcoma, with amputation feb 17, 2010. she's recovering nicely, taking naps when needed, and enjoying every moment of every wonderful day. in december 2010 we discovered oral melanoma cancer. gayle had two surgeries to remove tumors, but the ugly disease took her from us december 12, 2011. love never ends.

  1. Gayle, happy six-month ampuversary! My oh my, haven’t you come a long way!

And Charon – absolutely marvellous news from the surgeon. Oh, what a relief.

Major celebrating to do – we are totally gonna hokie pokie until the sun comes up.

    Yay.

  2. Happy ampuversary, Gayle! Two days is a long time to wait, but at least she made it up to you. 😉

Charon, what a relief. You and your Gayle are just amazing! (Jane too of course, we can’t forget Jane. She’s had to take care of BOTH of you!) Hope the radiation goes as smooth as possible for you. And you bounce back quickly.

Roxy, Kali and Dakota are going to love the celebratory ice cream! They won’t know why they’re celebrating, but they’ll be grateful!

  4. Happy Hoppy Hoppy Ampuversary!!

I needed an excuse to get my pawrents to give me some ice cream tonight.

So I am going to have some ice cream, topped with some cheese and then go take a nap – all in your honor.

P.S. My Daddy says I-L-L to your Don. Guy code I guess 🙂

  5. I don’t know how I missed this! I don’t think I’m medicated, but I’m sure I should be 🙂

Anyhow, We are sending Gayle a very belated Happy Ampuversary Wish. And Charon, your news is better than fantastic…..I’m so so very happy for you.

As Tracy and Maggie said, this is great news all around!

  6. We’re very late, but happy Ampuversary!! and you got excellent news for Charon too! We’re so happy for both (all 3) of you!

  7. Gayle, that is so great that your lymphnode came back clear. I just got off the phone with Dr Simpson and she said Indi’s lymphnode was clear, too! And the margins were clear. So I celebrate with you about the good news 🙂 It is huge. No visible cancer is the difference between having Indi girl for a few months vs a few years.

  8. indi, you make me laugh!!! sorry you are late to the party…but the lymph nodes everyone mentioned are mine… gayle was diagnosed with cancer in january of 2010, amputation in february.. i was diagnosed with cancer in july 2010, partial mastectomy in august… gayle and i are on the same path, but different body parts… thanks for your comments, and you’re right clear lymph nodes are good for everyone!!!

  9. OMD – I feel terrible – how could I have possibly missed this post?? I’ve been wondering how everyone was doing down there in TN and then to read all of this great news – fantastic!! Way to go Charon on your results and way to go Gayle on your 6 Month Ampuversary! We’re just going to have to make up for lost time and celebrate with triple the amount of ice cream, cheese, and doin’ the hokey pokey big time! I’m so happy for both of you!!!
Sending lots of golden hugs your way!
