what a great day for a walk!

sunday was our first every morris animal foundation k9 cancer walk here in knoxville.  the weather was great, and the turnout was unbelievable!!  gayle got a little tired, but was a trooper thru the whole afternoon of visiting and excitement.  sam is still trying to add up all the new butts he got to sniff, it was nirvana for him!!  gayle and i won an award, for being the largest individual fund raisers for the event (thanks in part to so many of our generous tripawd friends and family!!).  here we all are after the walk.

of course, once we got home, serious medicinal napping was called for!!!

gayle developed a small lump in her right front wrist. biopsy determined it was a soft tissue sarcoma, with amputation feb 17, 2010. she's recovering nicely, taking naps when needed, and enjoying every moment of every wonderful day. in december 2010 we discovered oral melanoma cancer. gayle had two surgeries to remove tumors, but the ugly disease took her from us december 12, 2011. love never ends.

  1. You guys look great! I’m so glad Gayle and the family enjoyed their walk together. Congrats on the fundraising award!

  2. Awesome! I mean, pawesome! How far did Gayle hop, or walk, or hop-walk? This is wonderful and I wish Dakota could do things like this. I think the front amps have a harder time with distance. He tuckers out going down the driveway. But I’m so glad you did it and the weather was great!

  3. actually, sam did the half mile walk for us. gayle hopped along for a bit – but it was a warm day and we’d already hopped from the parking area and around to a few booths, so it took it’s toll. a solid afternoon nap and good night’s rest, and she’s feeling much better today. we agree, the front amp makes walking alot more physical.

  4. Way to go Gayle and family! Maggie never actually made the whole walk either-too far for three short pug legs. But you were there and that is what counts!
Congrats on the fund raising award too!

  5. Yay for you Gayle!! The most money! We are so proud of you. That is just pawesome. And my Daddy and I noticed all the orange. Did your Don wear the orange and blue to celebrate the Illini’s win on Saturday? I hope you got a big nap yesterday.
