gayle – the chemo days

after fighting an ugly infection in her remaining elbow, we decided that the chemo treatment would be completed with our vets.  they are the BEST, without a doubt.  i remain with gayle for every procedure, and the fear factor is greatly reduced for all.

we had our first chemo treatment on monday march 4th.  gayle’s getting doxorubicin – projected to be five treatments (every 21 days), if she can tolerate it.   so far, so good.  she’s been pretty tired and rests alot since the treatment, but no ugly side effects so far.  a few soft poops, but nothing like i’d worried about.

so, here we are, hanging out with many belly rubs and kisses…hoping for even more.  more ‘blog’ as we continue our path together!!

gayle developed a small lump in her right front wrist. biopsy determined it was a soft tissue sarcoma, with amputation feb 17, 2010. she's recovering nicely, taking naps when needed, and enjoying every moment of every wonderful day. in december 2010 we discovered oral melanoma cancer. gayle had two surgeries to remove tumors, but the ugly disease took her from us december 12, 2011. love never ends.

  1. Gayle, it’s so cool you have such great vets! That really helps!

The chauffeur says east Tenn. has a racetrack called Bristol and we have one called Sears Point. Do you think they would let us in to watch the Nascar Races?

Heck no they wouldn’t let us in, everybody would hangin out with us instead of watching race!

You take care, take it easy, give your mom and dad plenty of “poor poor pitiful me looks.” You’ll get so much love and so many treats it will amaze you!

    Your friend, Shelby, the P.P.

  2. shelby, sounds like you have a wonderful life out in california!! we’ve never been to the racetrack (my human don is much more interested in golf and something called final fours…) but my human ‘sister’ does really get the idea of treats for her ‘girls’… thanks for the shout out!!
